What you need to know about Signing up for 2014:

- Signups with be on a Sunday evening. This date is - CONFIRMED - Feb 16th at 7:30 pm CST.
- You may have ONE table and ONE Table alone.

To sign up:

- There will be a link one clicks to go through the sign up process. It will be posted on the forums AND email blasted out. To be able to fully sign up AND be approved through the JURY FIRST COME FIRST SERVE SYSTEM YOU WILL HAVE TO HAVE:

* A Texas Tax ID. No exceptions. Check here for questions: viewforum.php?f=10
* A LINK to your Gallery / Website / What you sell. Its a *jury*. If you do not provide this to be juried, you are automatically declined. No "whoops I forget to add it in" this year. It is a Jury, we must see what you intend to sell.
* A description of your display. If you dont put that in, and you get put in a corner, you wont be moved.


The ONLY valid "to be moved on the map" reasons are for medical reasons.

It is that time of year again, and once again, we are gearing up to get artists signed up for the Artist Alley. This year, we have more potential participants than ever, so please take a few minutes to read this in its entirety, to get ready for it.

New DataBase Approach

After several years of using the database, we are working on improvements that will, we hope, make the process work a bit better for everyone. Like last year, there will be a clock on the link that flips over to the sign-up sheet and then it is time for the mad dash to get in. However, this year, we are making a couple of changes:

- The first page will only request two pieces of information: the business name that the artist is using and the Texas State Tax ID. That's it. Once these two pieces of information are entered and the user goes to the next page, the clock is set, and that time is stamped on the entry. Yes, this means that the database time stamp will be in the nanosecond.
- Once the applicant hits the Next button, s/he will have 30 minutes to finish filling in the form. If the applicant does not finish filling in the form within the allotted time, the entry will be removed from the report that we will use for the jury process.
- Once the applicant finishes filling in the form, they will be added to the report that the jury will use, with their position determined by the time stamp of the first page.

We are using this system so that we will eliminate most of the "Mother of All Typing Tests" approach that used to dominate the sign-up process, while still maintaining the FCFS part of the process that we feel, makes it as fair as we can.

Testing Date and Time

We are going to open the test on Saturday, February 8, at 7:30 pm (CST). We will close the test on Sunday, February 9 at around the same time, to run reports and see how the test went. We want to emulate the real situation as best as we can, so any and all of you that are willing to hop on and pretend that it is a real sign-up, will be very much appreciated. We are hoping that enough of you will hop on at the right time that we will be able to test the date stamp accurately.

There is a major advantage to being a part of the test. If you participate, you will know, in advance, what the real sign-up looks like. Knowing what to expect and what it will take to fill in the forms, will make the real sign-up go that much faster for you - thus giving you a bit of a jump on the ones that are not participating in the test.

A Few Rules

This is a test. Entering false data will not be penalized. However, using your real information will get YOU used to the real thing, so it is in your best interest to use valid information.

There will be no bonus to the ones that participate, other than that you will have more knowledge than than the ones that do not participate.
