Print Pricing by Size?

Postby AshHavynn » Fri May 23, 2014 9:32 pm

I miss all the resources I could thumb through on the older forums, so now I have a redundant kind of question that I need opinions on.

How much do you charge for prints based on size?

I typically can move 4x6 at $4 and 8.5x11 at $7, but I've noticed print prices falling. I've seen 8.5x11's going for as low as $5!

I also want to break into larger poster sizes, and I'm thinking 11x17 for around $15, maybe with a 2 for $25 break.

Is that too steep for 11x17? Do people prefer a different size? Bigger? What sizes sell best for you?

As one who merely buys prints, I think $15 for 11x17 is a great price. Don't underprice your stuff just because some other artists are!

I see one for $15, 2 for $20/$25 for the 11x17s often.

Dont you dare drop your prices! As I recall you use an art printer, so talk about the inks about how awesome they are.

I don't really think an Epson Workforce counts as an art printer? But it does make my 8.5x11's really pretty. If I'm doing 15 for 11x17 though, I can keep 7 for the smaller ones because half the size, half the price. I can't print 11x17 at home though (yet!)
So I have to take the work out. I'm not looking forward to last minute print shop diving, but I don't have much of a choice.

I just hope my paintings translate well to that size. We'll see!
