We are gearing up for the A-Kon 28 Artist Alley. To that end, we wanted to reach out and let you know what to expect in the coming year..

First, A-kon is moving to a new location! A-kon 28 will be at The Fort Worth Convention Center whichis within walking distance of thousands of downtown Fort Worth hotel rooms, a variety of delicious restaurants and fabulous shopping. It offers more than 250,000 square feet of exhibit space, nearly 60,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, an impressive 28,160 square-foot ballroom, a 13,500 person events arena, and a 55,000 square foot events plaza that connects to the one-of-a-kind Fort Worth Water Gardens.

This also means that we will be having a new AA, and to that end, there will be some MAJOR changes. We will continue to update you with specific details as they are made available, but here is a summary of what to expect:

As before, the AA is for Artists and Artisans to showcase and sell their work. The artist who makes the work needs to be onsite. While they will not be chained to their table (so to speak), they have to be available in case of emergency.
We are changing from FCFS + Jury to a fully Juried show. The next mailing will have the details about how we are doing the jury process.
We are opening the sign-ups for a two hour period on January 15th, 2017. Anyone that signs up during that two hour period will be juried for the show.
We are still finalizing the AA layout at our new venue. There may be an option to purchase a corner booth at a premium rate. Until details are finalized we are unable to confirm price and quantity. Details to come on this before we open the portal.
There may be an option on the sign-up form to request a premium corner. This does not guarantee that you will get one, if you get in. Again, these details will be communicated before we open up for sign-ups.
The price of a table is going to increase, but it will also include 2 membership badges, as well as free parking for one standard vehicle. (Moving trucks, trailers and other oversized vehicles will have to find their own parking spaces.)

In addition, here is the tentative schedule for the sign-ups:

January 15, 2017: Sign-ups
February 14, 2017: Jury process completed for first pass
March 15, 2017: Final Jury Process done
March 15, 2017: Start Sending invoices
April 15, 2017: Map published

There's the summary of what is going on. There will be several mailings to follow, putting out the details about the changes, but consider this your head's up for sign ups on the 15th of January.

This is a very exciting year. We can't wait to make this the best A-Kon AA ever!
